With the start of this new decade I was wondering what new things I should try to do. I already knew a little about website design and web hosting but it was only theoretical knowledge. Then I was given the opportunity to rewrite the entire website for a nail studio in Oerlikon, Zürich. Their website is www.bvnails.ch. This was in my eyes a little bit of a challenge for me, as I had never done anything like this before. It was my first time building a website and it would be for a company that has already been in business for 20 years. This was the start of my adventure in website design and led to me deciding to create my very own website. Below are the 3 reasons I decided tp create my own website.

Reason #1: New Year - New Project:

• As a student studying communication science, I always found it useful to know how it is to use new communication technology in practice and not just by learning about it in a book or on the lecturer's slides. This is why I started to use the different social media accounts, in order to learn how they work and how to use them. This year, building a website gave me the opportunity to start learning something new, a skill that is very helpful in the field of marketing and communication.

Reason #2: A Skill for Life:

• Nowadays, a business needs a website. If you do not have a website as a business, you are losing out on a lot of your potential. For this reason, knowing how to create a website and maintain it helps your business grow.

Reason #3: A Place to Share my Content:

• With my interests in drones, photography and cinematography comes a lot of visual content that I have created over time. Instead of just being hidden from the world in a hard drive, the content should much rather live and breathe and be shown. For this reason I have begun uploading my videos to YouTube, Blackbox and Instagram. In addition to these platforms, I wanted to have a place where I could put all my content together and have them in one place that is quickly accessible.
